Originally created as a Salvage and Recovery Vehicle, the Spidercrab is a utility craft used in a wide variety of operations from starship repair, maintenance, tug duties, search and rescue, and shipbreaking. It's powerful engines can be used to push larger vessels, and its four articulated arms can be used both for tearing metal, or magnetically securing to large objects, such as a hull.
This versatility has led some rather unscrupulous owners to make some modifications to the Spidercrab platform.
Known as the Breacher or Pirate Breaching Pod, a common aftermarket modification is to replace the rear of the cab with a hull saw and mount a PDC on the top for offensive capabilities. Although not designed for combat, the heavy duty construction makes it surprisingly durable in a fight.
While a single Breaching Pod is not so effective on its own, in a swarm the illegal craft can be frightening.
PRINT FEATURES: Both the Spidercrab and Pirate Breaching Pod feature fully articulated engines, engine blocks, arms, claws and manipulators. The FDM print version has full functionality, while the SLA version has fewer parts and lacks the flexibility of the FDM/PLA version. This is because resin is brittle, and the mechanics will break quickly.
