The Sunderland Ox Starlifter consists of the L-19 "Foreman" Command Module attached to the B-26 Ox Starlifter Barge. Together, the machines perform as a brute force cargo lifter designed to put standard cargo containers into orbit and transit over translunar distances (by converting the cabin to include a bed and fresher, short interplanetary distances can be accomodated by industrious transporters).
The open-topped barge uses four heavy articulated thruster arms to lift the platform, able to provide sustained thrust to arrest speed for planet fall, and fight a gravity well at low speeds to keep freight from enduring heavy stress. Two powerful Cygnus 460 main engines provide thrust to interplanetary speeds.
The "Foreman" provides more sophisticated control and allows a human operator to interface with the barge, turning it into a form of 'space truck' suitable for hauling cargo up to interplanetary distances with a few cabin modifications. The Foreman can detach, allowing the entire barge to be swapped out at port, although the module is capable of only local space flight and short VTOL hops in an atmospheric environment.
