This module is a Fifth Edition adventure for four to six adventurers with an average party level (APL) of 2. Due to the nature of this adventure, characters with strong Wisdom saving throws and abilities that detect or resist charm, illusion, or possession effects will have an advantage. This adventure can be played multiple times, with different outcomes and challenges each time. It is not a typical “kick down the door” style adventure, it is horror themed and deadly, requiring players to think creatively and take alternative approaches in order to survive. It takes place in the Drifting Heavens but can be incorporated into any campaign setting, and it can be played as a stand-alone module or as a quest in an ongoing campaign. If you wish to include our miniatures in your game, find the bundle here:
Adventure Synopsis:
-The characters arrive in the mist-choked village of Fogreach, where they are drawn into the mystery of a child taken by the forest. They investigate the fog’s eerie pull, discover tensions within the village, and
begin to hear the lullaby of He Who Watches the Herd, a creature looking to escape by destroying the bones of a local saint.
-They venture into the Gloamwood, a dreaming forest haunted by a strange spirit. There, they must survive twisted locations like haunted trees, cult gatherings, and strange merchants, each offering clues to the location of the sunken church where the spirit sleeps. The longer they remain, the stronger the forest becomes.
-Having located the ruined church, the party finds the saint’s bones—shackles that bind the ancient spirit. But they are not alone. Zealots, forest beasts, and the spirit’s avatar converge. The adventurers must face the Apostle or He Who Watches the Herd himself and decide what to do with the bones: destroy them, protect them, or flee. The forest will not forget their choice.
