In the year 2430 people have developed special sectioned off subnets to protect against the demonic AI horrors of wild and unchecked subnets. Some of the most destructive of these AIs are the rogue anti-viral programs, special systems once built to protect subnets, now either work alongside threats or purge all data in sight indiscriminately.
Having grown in complexity to such a degree that understanding their inner workings is now impossible, Hackers and Spacers must confront these digital demons in-person using specialized equipment that allows them to visualize and interact with the threat in direct combat, at the great and terrible threat of physical death should they fall in battle with these bizarre programs.
