Some hunters take heads. Some take hides. Bulgur takes the song.
Every beast he kills, he kneels beside until the final breath leaves it. He listens for the note inside that breath — the one only the dying make — and he keeps it. The disc at his belt is not a trophy. It is a chorus. Twenty-three voices. Twenty-three hunts. Twenty-three things that no longer answer when the world calls their name.
The wolf-mask was given to him by a brother who is no longer with the order. He wears it because the brother asked him to. He wears it because the brother could not.
When Bulgur hunts, he does not roar. He hums. And the things in the dark go quiet to listen — and that is when he finds them.
The fourth hunter of the Ossarium has stepped forward. May Campaign — closing chapter.
