The battleship Yamato was the lead ship of her class and along with her sister, Musashi, were the heaviest battleships ever constructed and armed with the most powerful cannon ever fitted to a warship.
in spite of her fearsome arsenal, Yamato only fired her main guns at a surface target once, during the battle of Leyte Gulf.
Yamato was sunk during operation Ten-Go by massed American air attacks.
This model is supplied in muliple stls. The hull comes as one piece with the turrets, cranes and catapults being separate.
The model is designed in 1/1800 scale but prints at 1/2400 perfectly.
We have tested a few of our designs at two additional scales: 1/3000 and 1/1200 which have all turned out really well. At 1/3000 scale though some components are very small and require additional patience when assembling.
