A devilish jester that was slain years before, its soul returned to Nosmkara’s Abyss thereafter. It would lure travelers with enchanting music like a siren, before lulling them into a state of waking dreams, and devouring them. Now it is among the swarms of devils and demons that assault the divine’s home of Syelden, finding his own realm within the ceaseless tower to call his own, sharing it with the gluttonous Bodge. They together lure their victims into a false sense of peace, and dine together on their flesh after.

A foul spawn of Nosmarka that became legend through Tharador’s central lands. A travelling jester or jack who would approach an unsuspecting group on the roadside, sharing the warmth of their campfire in exchange for a song. Yet when the jack’s lute played, it would cast a spell over all who listened, who would fall into deep slumbers with enchanted dreams, or become profoundly enamoured at the rhythm of the song, clapping along like mindless hens. Once the jack was content with their victim’s states, it would remove its masking, revealing a ghastly visage; a mass of teeth and flesh that would begin to consume each of its victims alive, endlessly devouring entire groups until only the blood-soaked ground remained.

These are only tales, fortunately. But multiple reports of the Jack often creep up through Belfrie, Draksborne, Nan Thalias and Baldur. Some years ago, a group of Mandril Vilor bounty hunters claimed to have slain the creature near the Reach Forest in the north of Baldur, having attained its mask and handed it in to their guild. Yet months later, the mask would suddenly vanish, and new reports emerged of the creature lurking in the dungeons and sewers beneath the University of Ardris in Belfrie. The University denied all reports of such a sighting, claiming them as fabrications conjured by bored students. Yet the legend persists, and now has emerged very real in Syelden, where it has taken over the ideal afterlife of one of its victims, in their life of running a peaceful tavern in the woods.

Any who arrive here are now lured in by the Jack’s song, unable to leave. It has jumped through many realms to emerge here, and in doing so has gathered a large following to join it. The only hope to defeat such a creature is for one to block out the sound of its deadly tune, lest they become just another meal.
