Raised as an orphan within the clergy, as many in her station are. Silvia came from the coastal city of Cerima, and was raised with the tenets of Horauthin, the Tharameni of War and Peace. The tales she was told as a child were of the destruction wrought throughout history, when evil was allowed to fester because those who proclaimed themselves to be good would not wield a sword until it was too late. Inaction gave root to evil, time and again throughout Minera’s history. Yet, in the fashion of Draksborne, these stories were told through the light of their nation’s own militaristic history, from their days of imperial conquest and expansion, to their own defensive wars against the rebellions that would see their empire fracture.
Such teachings within the Church were always strictly forbidden, being an organisation that spans across the continent of Tharador, but that does not mean such rules are enforced in every corner. Especially in Draksborne, where even the most devout clergy members are patriots. So too now, is Silvia. A War Priestess of Horauthin, who detested fighting alongside Belfrian and Formeni dogs in the Liturium War at the behest of the Church, who claimed it as a holy war against heretical worshippers of Brinilmin. Yet, it gave her valuable experience on the battlefield, which would later serve her in defense of her homeland when Dragonblight washed over the land with a wave of death.
She fought amongst the survivors in her home city, holding the defenses intact within the refuge of Cedhelieth’s Temple in the city. It was lost, and she alone survived, watching in helpless horror as men and women she had known since childhood were overtaken by the plague-beasts tearing through the walls and boarded windows.
When Dragonblight finally ended with the death of its mastermind, Hendrak, she volunteered herself to be among those who would aid in rebuilding the shattered kingdom. Two years on, the task feels far from complete. Sylvia has lost any joy that may have once been in her life, with her faith being completely shattered. With little left to live for, she only hopes she may find purpose in restoring her city, her homeland, to its former glory. A hope she knows she will only see bear fruit in the afterlife. Now, with word of a Blight resurgence in the village of Limlight, Sylvia has flown there, against the orders of the Church to remain in Cerima. There, she hopes, in some strange way, she might seek vengeance against the disease, and stamp it out before it can fester further.
