Whipsers from his patron drove Kael to the next sight of bloodshed. A place where its thirst for death might be sated. Whilst Kael wears the guise of one there to bring aid to the village of Limlight, it is his hope that every inhabitant of the village meets a gruesome end, if only to satisfy his patron and further empower himself. He will do his best to ensure such things come to fruition.

Kael’s earliest memory is waking on an altar in the depths of a cavern, bare as a newborn soothing voice of Exalath roused him from his slumber, congratulating him on his rebirth as the dark patron’s Avatar. Kael had no recollection of his life before that moment, it had all been torn from his mind, but Exalath assured him that he had come from nothing, and that with him, he would instead become everything. This promise, so far, has been kept. The powers Kael borrows from his patron rival even grand mages, able to turn his enemies to ash or rip their innards from their skin in the snap of a finger. Yet Exalath does not allow Kael to use these without a price, for often he is used as a means to enact the creature’s will within Tharador. Whether this is hunting down those who took up bargains with the creature, and force them to pay their share, or battle against other avatars of rival demons to stifle their own influence.

Whilst Kael obediently walks the path painted by his patron, a faint gnawing thought lives within his mind; that this was not a life he chose, but rather one forced upon him. No memories exist before he woke on that altar, but he cannot help but sometimes consider if this was what he wanted, as he tears out the heart of a dying stranger to sate Exalath’s sadistic bloodlust. For years this has eluded him, yet there has been little he could do for his eyes and ears were shared by the evil entity.

Now, years later, he finds himself at yet another place of Exalath’s calling. A village in Draksborne where a recent outbreak of Dragonblight has left the village contained within an arcane quarantine. Posing as a wandering sorcerer, he has volunteered to go into the village to help contain the outbreak. Whilst he will at first do as he claims, holding his cover to any powerful enough to challenge him, his ultimate goal is to see every inhabitant of the village slaughtered. Though it will halt the spread of the disease, in truth the slaughter will be ritualistic, aiming to soak the grounds in blood and pave the way for Kael to ascend to the next form of Exalath’s Avatar. Should he succeed, he may become almost as much of a threat as the outbreak itself.
