An experienced Inquisitor whose father was a navy captain; his position secured Mary-Belle a place in the Marine Inquisitors. Mary-Belle had always shown a knack for investigation and problem-solving, more than being a stalwart fighter. While she knows her way around a blade and flintlock, her sharpest weapon is her mind and tongue. Her disarming and warm nature often leads to suspected arcanists slipping up around her, before meeting an untimely end or a set of Liturium-infused cuffs.

Mary-Belle never knew her father well. His place as a captain in Baldur’s navy saw their family move regularly, Calling Edimir, Grimhelm, Nortros and Sowtreck home at one point or another. Her childhood was turbulent, but she found one place of constant comfort: watching waves lap against the shore as she turned the pages of her favourite books. Novels, academia, chronicles, whatever they might be. She buried herself in them. They became the world that always remained, always was. Whilst her house changed, her school, her friends: the sea did not, nor the books she would read time and again.

When Mary-Belle came of age, she found herself pushed towards the Inquisitors by a recruitment drive in the city of Sowtreck at the time. One of her favourite chronicles was a collection of anthology stories about Inquisitors through the Second Era, so she felt naturally compelled to join them. Her pedigree as the daughter of a navy captain, and natural smarts, both lent to her easy placement as an initiate, where she found herself to have a knack for problem solving and investigating, more than swordsmanship. Whilst she was still handy with a blade and flintlock, it was her mind that set her above her peers. At her father’s request, Mary-Belle put her request to be inducted into the Marines, as an inquisitor embedded within a ship’s crew: his crew.

Now, their mission has called for Mary-Belle to be summoned to the remote port town of Westlook, after a request for back up from one of her contemporaries: Alexander of Riverbrook. Her father’s ship dropped her in the port there a few days ago while it continued its own patrol towards the waters of Ukrondia, with the promise to pick her back up when they returned from their posting in the pirate-infested waters. Until then, Mary-Belle is dedicated to aiding Alexander in finding a missing arcanist rebel leader: Garrick Selmey. The alleged sorcerer was last spotted in the town a few months ago, but Alexander has only found resistance in the locals, who seem outwardly trying to hinder his investigation, and are touched by a divine of madness. Fearing his throat might be slit in his sleep, he hopes that Mary-Belle will provide the aid he requires to complete his mission, and return home alive.
