The enigmatic leader of Banimal: a mercenary outfit he founded over a decade past. No one truly knows the origins of Sabre. His swords alone are worth more than the castles of the wealthiest lords, both being invaluable artifacts holding power that could only have been blessed by the divine. His fighting style is relentless. Brutal. Unmatched. None have bested him, yet his humble personality and bold leadership have earned him the respect of every person that carries the tabard of Banimal into battle.
Whatever life Sabre lived before he founded Banimal is a mystery to even his closest confidants. His time before the mercenary outfit is never spoken over, and any attempts to pry it out of him are met with fervent resistance at best, and expulsion or outright hostility at worst. All that can be inferred is that he founded the organisation only a few months before the Duskweave Campaign, hired many of the most elite warriors from other mercenary companies, then lobbied the kings of Belfrie and Formen to pay for his services during the campaign. Sabre led his mercenaries to Duskweave with one-hundred men, and left with one-hundred and twenty, his silver tongue managing to replenish the men they lost in the fighting, and bolster it even above those they lost.
Sabre is known for being a fair, charismatic leader, save for his uncharacteristic wrath when his past is brought up. His men follow him without question, as the most devoted paladins might follow their bishop, or loyal commanders follow their king. Yet Sabre does not wield the noble blood of kings, nor a soul blessed by the divine. In all ways, he is but a mortal man, elevated by the priceless artifacts he wields in battle. Even in the Liturium War, his weapons did not have their properties nullified by Liturium, making him a deadly force in the war, able to fight beneath a Liturium Beacon unaffected by its magic nullifying influence. Though Banimal is an unsung outfit, those who fought upon the fronts know that the Coalition may very well have lost the war at key battles, had Sabre and his men not been present.
Now with the war years behind them, Banimal has taken up contracts from the Crown of Baldur, particularly with peacekeeping efforts. They were able to dismantle a handful of rebel cells through the Heartlands, and now travel south to secure trade routes that have been plagued by Orc marauders, after the Crown was unable to spare their own manpower to secure them. What Sabre does not expect is how deep such a seemingly menial task will run.
