Description

Raised in 1826 as the 4th Regiment of Nizam’s Cavalry, and composed mainly of Sikhs, they were from 1854-1903 generally known as the Hyderabad Contingent. For the loyal support rendered to the British Government during the Mutiny by the Nizam of Hyderabad, the regiment was awarded the honour, Central India.
