“Asterion and I only met each other at two moments throughout the years on Earth.

The first was in Finland, in the south near the shores where farmers worked the fields, in the year 3509.
The last was when she prepared to board the final space refuge ship, Penguin, in the year 6078.

Together, we gazed upon the burning planet we once called home, as the Era of the Iron Belt had just begun.

We talked and reflected on all the moments on Mother Earth—what went wrong, and what went right.

Asterion’s years on Earth were a struggle. She was a skilled fighter and a clever tamer, and on many occasions she managed to learn the Locknoss language, communicate with queens, and halt the expansion of hives across the world. She fully understood that the Locknoss were not creatures that could be entirely defeated. Peace was her true talent—one she discovered and developed through the years.

Hundreds of thousands of years have now passed since the last time we spoke. I do not know if she still lives, or if her ship ever reached its destination.”
