Description
The commanders of the Einherii are known by many names — ice commissars, war chiefs, ice fathers — yet their essence is always the same: they are men shaped by war before life ever had the chance to give them another identity. They are not simply appointed to command. They are raised through battle. From childhood, they serve under hardened officers as aides and adjutants, keeping records, carrying tallies, fulfilling simple duties, and learning to assist both in combat and in the daily life of the regiment, until war becomes their true home and the cold front their natural ground. They learn not from books, but from blood, discipline, and the unforgiving lessons of survival. Once that training is complete, their paths begin to diverge. Some remain behind in the ice fortresses, where they train and oversee new generations of battle comrades, while others become the commanders who march at the front of living steel. These are not leaders who send men forward from safety. They are the voice of honor, dignity, and courage within the ranks, guardians of morale who keep soldiers from breaking not only through authority, but through example. They preserve the flame of faith in hearts already exhausted by war and become the war fathers of entire formations. For that reason, it is hardly surprising that in the rolls of fallen heroes, the names of the ice commissars so often stand first.
