Description
Once, Vespertilius Squad were noble warriors of Humankind, space knights whose oaths spoke of protection, duty, and sacred war against monsters. Now they have become monsters themselves: twisted terrors, forever trapped within their corrupted armor and their own delusional hatred. Their fall was unlike that of other renegades. They did not merely swear themselves to the Abyss, accept its gifts, or betray their former brothers. They let the Night in.

This power is called Nox — a dark energy born from shadow, fear, and the souls of those they have slain. It flows through their armor instead of light, whispers inside empty helmets, extinguishes the last remnants of identity, and turns each warrior into a vessel for night itself. The more enemies and former brothers fell to their blades, the stronger Nox became, until Vespertilius Squad ceased to be warriors in any ordinary sense. Their hearts no longer know mercy, rage, or joy. Even their hatred has become cold, soulless, and endless.

In battle, they are berserkers of the night, predators who hurl themselves at the enemy without fatigue, fear, or doubt. They do not stop when wounded, do not retreat before superior numbers, and need no orders once they sense a living soul before them. Their attack feels less like an assault and more like the sudden arrival of darkness: lamps die, vox-signals break, the air grows cold, and then their twisted silhouettes emerge from the gloom. They strike fast, close, and brutally, tearing the enemy formation apart before it can understand that the battle has already begun.

When the sabotage aboard the space knights’ vessel turned into a temporal catastrophe, Vespertilius Squad were dragged into the loop alongside the other fallen warriors. The repeating minutes of battle, death, and darkness only strengthened their bond with Nox. Each cycle fed them new fears, new deaths, and new fragments of souls. And when the loop finally broke and cast them into Mastermind’s laboratory, they found themselves in a place perfectly suited to their nature: the corridors of the Null-Zone, where light is unreliable, time is broken, and every corner can become the mouth of night.

Now Vespertilius Squad are weapons of darkness unleashed into the labyrinth. They no longer seek redemption, glory, or even victory. They simply go wherever there is life, warmth, and fear, so they can extinguish it all in the name of Night. Their armor is empty of soul, but full of shadow. And when they draw near, the enemy understands too late: sometimes night does not come from outside. Sometimes it is already inside the armor.
