This contemporary sculpture captures the dramatic and fearsome aspect of Shiva as Gajasurasamhara, the destroyer of the elephant demon Gajasura. The deity is rendered mid-dance atop the defeated elephant’s head, embodying a powerful sense of motion and force. His many arms hold various weapons, including the iconic trident (trishula), sword, and shield, symbolizing divine wrath and protection.

The elephant skin, worn as a mantle and backdrop, envelops Shiva, amplifying his victorious dominance. Adorned with skulls and serpents, this form represents not only cosmic destruction but also the subjugation of ego and illusion. This artistic interpretation revives a Chola-period iconographic theme with modern linework and bold styling.
