The Von Rhetz Regiment
In general, the uniforms of the Brunswick regimes during the American Revolution conformed to the Prussian model, as did all the German armies present in the theaters of battle during the Revolution (with the exception of those of Anhalt-Zerbst). In the case of our von Rhetz regiment, in particular, the uniforms were an elegant dark blue with white jacket lapels, just as the waistcoat and trousers were white. White or gray gaiters could be worn over the trousers. Coats were lined in red for both soldiers and junior officers, while regular officers wore blue (or grey) breeches and high riding boots with cuffs.
