Description
Triceratops horridus, commonly known as Triceratops, is a well-known herbivorous dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 68 to 66 million years ago. It was one of the last non-avian dinosaurs to roam the Earth before the mass extinction event that wiped out most dinosaur species.
Triceratops is recognized for its distinctive appearance and large size. It was one of the largest land-dwelling herbivores, reaching lengths of up to 9 meters (30 feet) and weighing around 6 to 12 tons. The most striking feature of Triceratops was its skull, which had a unique frill at the back and three large horns. The two horns above its eyes were long and pointed, while the third horn on its snout was shorter.
