Description
Mixotoxodon larensis is an extinct species of gomphothere, a prehistoric relative of elephants, that once roamed the ancient landscapes of South America.
Belonging to the family Gomphotheriidae, these herbivores lived during the late Miocene to early Pliocene epochs, approximately 5 to 8 million years ago. Fossils of this species have been discovered in the La Venta Formation in Venezuela.
