Description
Gryphoceratops morrisoni was a small, herbivorous ceratopsian dinosaur from the Late Cretaceous of Canada.
Discovered in Alberta, it belonged to the leptoceratopsid family, which lacked large horns seen in later ceratopsians. Estimated to be one of the smallest horned dinosaurs, it measured under a meter in length.
It had a short, deep jaw adapted for chewing tough vegetation. Named in 2012, its genus means "griffin horned face," and the species honors paleontologist Ian Morrison.
Gryphoceratops lived in a lush, coastal environment alongside other dinosaurs, contributing to the diverse ecosystem of Cretaceous North America.
