Description
Halszkaraptor escuilliei is a small, unusual theropod dinosaur from the Late Cretaceous of Mongolia, discovered in the Gobi Desert.
It belongs to the dromaeosaurid group but displays a unique mix of features unlike its relatives.
It had a long, flexible neck, numerous small teeth, and forelimbs that may have been adapted for swimming.
Its anatomy suggests a semi-aquatic lifestyle, possibly feeding on fish in rivers or lakes.
The discovery of Halszkaraptor has challenged traditional ideas about dromaeosaur behavior, showing that some members of this group occupied ecological niches similar to modern waterbirds.
