Part of Tribes and Patreon November 2026 release.
This set is a bundle that contains:
The Hollowoak - Modular Cottage Structure and Gargantuan Tree
Halfling Cottage Objects and Props
All the models are test printed in resin and presupported when needed.
- The Hollowoak Structure. This is modular in length and width, and it has a large array of variant pieces: you can make it as long or short as you like, you can make it thinner by removing the top section of the trunk (or potentially wider by using two or more pieces of that same section), and you can choose between different options for the main trunk walls. Whether you want natural growths, branches, windows and balconies, or a simpler trunk, you will be able to make this structure as "worked" or as natural as you need.
The structure has interior walls too that - given the rounder structure and the texture on the outside - are not tiled but "free". This way you can make rooms as large or as small as you like while keeping the curve of the model and the exterior texture of the trunk correctly flowing. I suggest gluing at least one piece of these walls to one of the floor tiles, and use that as a stable standing base for their magnetized modular structure. Same goes for the walls on the upper level, but if you'd rather have a single open space you can skip that part completely and have a long domed structure.
The main purpose of the set, of course, is that of being a sort of cozy house carved inside a fallen tree trunk, but, thanks to a few joining pieces, you can make a complete gargantuan trunk out of it. Placed on the battlefield, it will make encounters in the fey plane or a primeval jungle memorable for sure. In any case, if the hobbit like style of this building is not to your taste, you can print only the natural parts of the set and use it as an unconventional cave, a witch's hut, a forest creature hidden shelter; it is up to your fancy! Whether you print the fully round thing or just a tree-carved structure as in this render, I think it would be a great environment centerpiece for a green dragon den!
For this set I didn't use the OpenLOCK tiling for the walls with the aim to increase the modularity/versatility of it all: basically, the walls will join the floors via magnets (or glue, of course), but if you keep them separated, you'll be able to switch from a structure with a floor to the full natural trunk by using the floor fillers. You print the structure once, you have two different uses for it. Since some of you asked for it: there is also an option for floor tiles without the standard OpenLOCK hourglass shaped supports for easier cleaning. You can find more info on all of this in the instructions.
Oh, and the large branch stump that you can see on the roof, while totally optional, is compatible with the Trees of the Eternal Vigil. This means that potentially you can have that tree standing on top of this structure, vertically, and have an Elven style platform on top of this structure. That would make for even a more interesting location, with stuff you may have already printed :) Plus, with this set we also have a broken tree "cap" option for that Tree of the Eternal Vigil set.
Finally, I realized at this point that you can have one extra use for the structure: by placing the trunk vertically on the ground you can have a truly gargantuan tree section that can represent that standing tree (although without visible conical roots). Maybe your players are hunting a flying (or titanic) creature in an ancient forest and jumping from tree to tree (AoT style!), or they are climbing a sacred tree to reach the temple in its canopy and are attacked mid climb - the trunk can be the visual centerpiece of that mid-air (or mid-trunk) fight!
- The Hollowoak Objects and Props. This set has everything you need to bring life to an halfling living room, kitchen, bedroom and more importantly: pantry. These objects are extremely detailed and varied, with plain and furnished options (these I have built by combining objects from many releases, but you can also assemble your own once printed). From benches to sofas, from tea tables to kitchen ovens, from a giant fireplace to a human width but halfling height double bed, from book filled bedside tables to a stocked pantry, from cider filled barrels to a modular island with everything to bake cookies - even with the recipe book! This objects and props will bring life to any house that has a bit of a fairy look as well as shops, castle or palace kitchens, and so on!
The objects are made at a small creature scale, but you can always upscale them slightly (20%) in your slicer to have them work for medium creatures too (more on this on the instruction files coming with the release). Some of the props inside the furnished objects are still at medium creature scale. That made sense to me, since I liked the idea of smaller folks buying the same bottles or cheese wheels of higher peoples at the market, for example. I can picture them appreciating having double the food at the same prize thanks to the size: whether they can have it last longer because of that - or, let's be real - they can enjoy double of it in one go!
I can imagine characters coming to the Hollowoak village - built in carved sections of an old, partially eaten fallen tree - to search for rare herbs, or mushrooms, or honey. Once they get there, they discover a welcoming and light environment: small folks living with the creatures of the forest in harmony. But as soon as they state what they are seeking, the mood shifts. There is an old lady, they say, that lives among them. That's where they should go. But they should never ask what is bubbling in her stew... And that's just one quick idea to contrast the environment's coziness!
