Medieval javelin thrower from Eastern Europe. These light missile troops did fight for both the crusaders and as part of the different Rus city militias. Their task were to soften the enemy formation showering them with missiles along with the archers. Advantage of the javelins were that if they hit a shield and get stuck it will be difficult to keep it up.
