The Rotknell

At the heart of the Knellbound hangs the Rotknell, a great bell once forged for worship, mourning, and sacred purification. In forgotten centuries it marked the hours of prayer, funerary rites, and solemn absolution. Yet too many pleas were poured into its bronze, too many deaths counted in its tolling, and too much corruption allowed to take root beneath the mask of devotion.

In time, the bell ceased to serve the faithful.

Instead, the faithful became bound to the bell.

Now the Rotknell is no mere relic, but a living engine of sacred decay. Its mass is borne by a warped frame of timber, bone, and ritual growth, and every peal that sounds from within it carries blight into flesh and terror into the soul. The Knellbound do not merely guard it. They gather around it as the center of their communion, for they believe the final truth of all worship is not grace, nor salvation, but the toll that draws all living things toward rot, ruin, and surrender.

It does not call the faithful to prayer.

It calls them to decay.
