As I was working on some of the spaceships for OPR Warfleets I saw they had paper tempates for asteroid fields. 2D? Not in my house!
This has 3 bases, and 10 different asteroids that print flat on the bed for FDM printers. The pictured prints were done .2 layer height on my Prusa, so you can definitely get some good results.
Spray prime a grey, and some black wash and white dry brush and I bet you will have a great set of asteroids.
