- Mongolian Invasion from the Mid-13th Century A.D. -

No name symbolizes fear and dread more than that of “Mongol”. The 13th century Mongolian hordes swept out of the central Asian plains like a Steppe hurricane that no opponent could stand against. Under Batu(the grandson of Genghis Khan) they established the largest contiguous land empire in history – stretching from Asia to Croatia and other Eastern European regions.

"They razed cities to the ground, burnt woods, pulled down castles, tore up the vine trees, destroyed gardens, and massacred the citizens and husbandmen; if by chance they did spare any who begged their lives, they compelled them, as slaves of the lowest condition, to fight in front of them against their own kindred."

Matthew Paris recounting the Mongol devastation of Poland and Hungary in 1240

Our Mongol warrior is ready to strike with both hands on his large curved sword. He is lightly armored, preferring to do most of his damage at a safe distance with the composite bow he has strapped to his side. His ferocity is captured in the vivid detail of his face and stance. This is a fantastic figure, and a superb representation of the Mongol warriors. Enjoy!
