Porter Rockwell was said to have the gift of Sampson. He never cut his hair except once, to make a wig for a woman who was losing her hair. Rockwell was occasionally on the wrong side of the law, but in time he became a Deputy U.S. Marshall.
Eventually he settled down as the founder and operator of the Hot Springs Hotel and Brewery at the southern end of the Salt Lake Valley. (Your classic adventurer turned brewer/innkeeper!)
