Description

Model Description:
This download contains a highly detailed model of the T-50 infantry tank. Documentation and references for the real vehicle were rigorously studied to make the model as geometrically accurate as possible, except in the cases where printability would have to be sacrificed (such as the fender thickness).

Historical Description:
The T-50 was a light tank designed in the early years of World War 2 to be a light infantry support tank. The vehicle was armed with a 45mm 20K cannon, alongside a 7.62mm DT MG. The vehicle possessed relatively strong armor for a light tank and was meant to be more suited to the battle tank role than other contemporary vehicles. The armor was well angled and relatively thick at almost 40mm, compared to the 45mm thick plates found on the T-34.

The T-50 saw a limited production run and did see some service during the initial defense of the Soviet Union in Leningrad. Unfortunately for the T-50's legacy, the T-34 was developed around the same time and was deemed superior. This led the Soviet factories to prioritize T-34 tooling and production for their standard battle tank, leaving the T-50 to die out before being built in appreciable numbers. Only 69 vehicles were produced between 1941 and early 1942 before it was retired.

In Armored Advance:
In armored advance the T-50 is a more expensive 45mm platform, albeit still cheap compared to many units. The armor is strong enough to block some early-war fire, and the cannon can dish out some adequate damage in response. The T-50 is essentially the "poor man's" T-34, able to play a battle tank role with less investment.
