Panzer Ii Ausf F German Light Tank - 1/72 Scale

Model Description:
This download contains a highly detailed model of a Panzer II AusF F. Documentation and references for the real vehicle were rigorously studied to make the model as geometrically accurate as possible, except in the cases where printability would have to be sacrificed (such as the fender thickness).

Historical Description:
The Panzer II was originally designed as a stopgap tank for the German army during World War 2, meant to tie over panzer divisions while larger tanks were being developed. The vehicle was the most prevalent German tank at the beginning of the war; however, it would be replaced by the Panzer III and IV tanks shortly after. By 1942 the vehicle was almost entirely taken out of frontline service. The vehicle generally had lackluster armor, as at the time of its development resistance to small arms was the biggest consideration. All Panzer II variants mounted a 20mm autocannon of some variety, with earlier models using the KwK 30, while later versions upgraded to the KwK 38.
 

The Panzer II AusF F, while visually very similar to the AusF C, features several notably modernizations. The vehicle had its armor thickness increased from 15mm to 35mm on the front, with a more box-shaped superstructure featuring a decoy driver port. The vehicle also received additional storage bins and some modifications to the engine deck and exhaust assemblies.

In Armored Advance:
In armored advance the Panzer II AusF F is a cheap anti-infantry unit, with very limiting anti-tank utility. The vehicle's armor will not stop AT firepower, though can hold up to some lighter armaments that the C could not. Like the C, it is equipped with the 2cm KwK 30 autocannon which will not be able to damage much to armored opponents. It is however, very potent at knocking out unarmored units.
