Most pirates chose the wargalley as their workhorse to pillage and raid away, and it is not difficult to imagine why. Wargalleys are robust, fast and efficient at getting close and personal with their pray, and since the Aeolian wargalleys are usually smaller than triremes, they are easier and cheaper to maintain. The business of raiding requires one’s full attention and that is why most pirate wargalleys are pushed by slaves or initiates who must earn their place among the crew, leaving the fully fledge Aeolian raiders to go on their trade fresh for the fight. In many cases, due to their stable design and the way their crew operate (more than 50 men on deck in addition to the oarsmen), it could be said that these ships are similar to the Illyrian lembos class ship, and possibly they are somehow related given the use that the Illyrian pirates themselves give of said ships.
Designed by Dankai Miniatures, this set is optimised for UV resin printing and is supplied fully supported at 1/300 scale (6mm).
The Aeolian Wargalley set includes the ship’s core hull with three different options for their bow figurehead and astern tails. Plus all the triremes components are fully compatible (sold separately as part of the triremes products) to ensure you can build the most colourful fleet. The set is complete with an option of regular or pirate style mainsail, the needed Mastery Flag and the Aeolian raiders easy tokens.
