They remember loyalty as a concept, but no longer as a choice. They speak with clarity, carry messages across starless voids, and stand as emissaries of their masters' will - all while fully aware that their obedience is absolute, enforced at the deepest level of their being.

This is what makes them terrifying.

Not that they cannot disobey - but that they understand exactly what obedience has cost them.
