Originally a type of mounted infantry in the early 18th century, Dragoons slowly morphed into conventional cavalry forces. During the Napoleonic Wars, they were a lighter cavalry force than the vaunted Cuirassiers but still performed massed charges like their heavier comrades. Dragoons in Napoleon's service also used straight-bladed swords, rather than the curved sabres of other cavalry.
Our set includes bodies and horses for Dragoon regiments circa 1805. There are also dismounted variants for both troopers and an officer.
