The Gilded Indebted are those whose debt surpassed the value of their lives. Soldiers, merchants, priests, and civilians alike, they entered contracts they could never fulfill, pledging future labor, blood, or souls to Mammon. When death came before repayment, it was not accepted as settlement. Their bodies were reclaimed, their spirits bound, and their obligation continued. Thus they rise again, not as undead horrors, but as living accounts that refuse to close.

Their forms are ruined and persistent. Flesh rots and repairs itself in equal measure, bones knit back together after breaking, and wounds that should be fatal merely slow them. Each Indebted bears visible markers of their burden: chains fused to ribs, tally-marks carved into skin, seals hammered into skull or spine. Pain is constant, but meaningless. Until the debt is paid in full, death is denied.

On the battlefield, the Indebted are driven forward without strategy or mercy. They are sent where losses are expected, where ground must be held at any cost, or where enemy fire must be drawn away from assets of value. They do not retreat, because retreat would delay repayment. They do not fear destruction, because destruction is temporary. Every step, every blow absorbed, every second they remain standing is counted against what they owe.

Within the doctrine of the Auric Collectors, the Indebted are proof that Mammon’s claim is absolute. They are not punished; they are utilized. Their endless service offsets deficits, balances failed ventures, and subsidizes future conquests. To witness them is to understand that greed does not end at death. It extends beyond it, patient and precise.
