A medium sized water bird that is the ancestor of cranes, storks, and herons. mounted on a 1 inch diorama of wetland shoreline with reeds and cattails.
Standing above still waters, the herragath makes for an imposing predator with its crimson feathers and sinister beaked head. Yet to its prey, it is all but unseen. Standing stock-still in the shallows, it waits for the sun to rise to its zenith when the frogs and fish of the Wetlands seek shelter beneath the dark canopy of the lily pads. Dozens of specialized lily pad looking scales spread outwards along its legs, and as prey nestle in close the herragath will spear its beak downwards, impaling and securing another meal. As such a patient hunter requires absolute stillness, the bird has learned to mimic the surrounding predators to keep them far away at a safe distance.
