BTR-80 Russian personnel carrier

The BTR-80 is an eight-wheeled, all wheel drive armored personnel carrier used by Russian troops during the Afghan war. The Afghan guerillas tactics showed the vehicle to be vulnerable to mines and hand anti-tank weapons fire. Consequently, the AGS-17 automatic grenade launcher was added to the BTR turret to increase the firepower, while hull mounted water cans and spare wheels provided an additional ballistic protection.

Полноприводный 8-колесный бронетранспортер БТР-80 был принят на вооружение в начале 8O-x годов. Кроме экипажа из 3-х человек может перевозить до 8 пехотинцев. Вооружен двумя пулеметами, один из которых крупнокалиберный 14,5-мм КПВТ.
