An Inquisitor specialising in occult investigations. Alexander of Riverbrook has been petitioned by the Crown of Baldur to locate an arcanist rebel leader thought to have fled to the town of Westlook. Whilst the town has seemed relatively mundane and boring at first, Alexander’s intuition has been telling him to leave the place since he arrived. Fighting against it, he instead called for backup: the Marine Inquisitors.
Raised in Baldur’s military capital of Grimhelm, Alexander of Riverbrook had aspired to become an Inquisitor for as long as he could remember. To the ordinary folks of Baldur, they were a force to both fear, and be devoted to. It was the Inquisitors that solely kept the unruly powers of arcanists at bay, that struck fear into the hearts of those practicing witchcraft or making unholy pacts with demons. Alexander had always wished to be counted among their ranks, and through his schooling, he relentlessly applied himself to ensure he would be. Body and mind. Both had to be stalwart in their ranks. The entry exams demanded them to be.
After years of training, he finally received his place among them, with proud tears in the eyes of his family at his induction. His superiors quickly realised that Alexander was a standout in his perceptiveness and investigative skills, often picking up details amidst raids that other Inquisitors may have overlooked, often remaining behind even when his job was done. This earned him the cosier job as an investigator, taking him away from the frontlines where his miraculous mind might meet an untimely end at the deathly touch of a necromancer. Though investigations aren’t without their own risks. Unless the situation calls for backup, Alexander is alone. As was the case in Westlook, until his intuition told him something was very wrong with this place, and he wrote for aid back to Grimhelm, where Mary-Belle Curtis was sent to aid him.
With her having just arrived, Alexander can continue his investigation into finding the disappeared rebel arcanist: Garrick Selmey. So far Selmey has completely eluded him, and despite the various reports that he boarded a vessel bound for Westlook, which arrived safely in the town, there have been no sightings of him since. The townspeople have proven unhelpful, and his search is beginning to dry up. Now Alexander and Mary-Belle believe that their investigation may need to take a different direction: looking into the oddities of the town itself, to perhaps find a link to Selmey’s disappearance.
