The Sepulchral Cardinal is a relic of faith that died screaming. Once a high priest who marched with the armies of men, he perished amid fire, heresy, and unanswered prayers. Death did not strip him of his vestments nor his authority — it hollowed them out, leaving only a spectral parody of devotion behind.

He walks alone, floating just above the ground, his cardinal’s robes trailing like funeral shrouds through the smoke. Where his shadow falls, the air grows heavy with dread, and the dead seem to listen as though awaiting absolution that will never come.

The Sepulchral Cardinal preaches without scripture and blesses without mercy. His sermons are whispered directly into the minds of spirits, twisting fragments of forgotten doctrine into a creed of endless war. To the Ghosts of the No Man’s Land, his presence binds them tighter than chains, convincing them that their unrest is not a curse, but a sacred calling.

Among the living, he is feared as a heretical omen. Those who behold him often hear fragments of corrupted liturgy echoing in their thoughts, promising salvation through annihilation. Many who survive such encounters later abandon their faith entirely — or embrace darker truths whispered by the dead.

Thus the Sepulchral Cardinal walks with The Forgotten Host not as a shepherd of souls, but as their blasphemous apostle — proof that even faith can rot, rise again, and march to war.
