[Note that as a Goliath, Ice Heart is considerably taller than a standard human miniature].
A Colossal born and raised far from her ancestral homeland of Oldavor. Ice Heart once took contracts for the World Explorers and Hunters League, though finding they seldom scratched her itch for battle. More often than not their weeks of trekking would result in a pitiful fight against a beast at best, or nothing at worst. Now she is able to hone both her arcane and martial skills together in the crucible, becoming a well-loved fighter amongst its patrons.
Ice Heart is just a stage name, one given to her by the contemporaries of the Crucible, who told her that her true name, Ikuqinafala, did not have audience appeal. Names like these have always been worn by Ikuqinafala. The tongues of men seldom wag with foreign words, either by choice or ignorance. Iku was how she was often referred to, easy enough for men to say, but not so strange that they might forget it. Her mother had often told her that there was power to her name, its meaning, its use in incantations. Would the Men of Belfrie care for such meaning? She doubted it. Thus, Iku stuck.
She was raised by the sole whims of her mother, a Colossal who had escaped the frozen hell of Oldavor years before, enduring the pursuit of the Northmen until she found safety in Formen, and there, a lover. A giant of a man who claimed to be an Oldavori descendent himself, but proved himself a coward when he learned his lover was with child, fleeing to never be seen again. Iku is thus one of the few half-Colossals to exist on Minera, though this is a fact she seldom shares. She was raised only by a Colossal mother, not by any Men. No Men would know that she stood inches too short, with skin too dark and unmarred by firebrand tattoos. To her, she was as much of a Colossal as a bloodshaman wandering the icy wastes.
Ice Heart found at a young age that she was gifted with a strong pull of Minera’s Breath. Though her mother wished for her to receive tutelage at the University of Ardris in Belfrie, Iku had no desire to leave her mother alone. Yet when the Liturium War began, Iku was left alone, their home destroyed by Leacianans, her mother slain, and a dozen Leacianans slain around her. Iku fell into a transformative rage, powered by Breath and anger, she slaughtered her mother’s murderers, tearing their bodies apart with an unseen force perpetrated by her grief.
When the last was left gurgling on his own blood, Iku left. She travelled south, away from the front lines, finding refuge in Belfrie, like many from Formen. With no discernible skills for employment, she found a place in the Crucible: good gold for work that for her, felt easy. It was dehumanizing at first, treated like another newbie ready to be sent to slaughter, but now, years later, she is a name that is well chanted through the stands as she walks through the pits. This is her place of belonging. Fighting with unwieldy magic and unrestrained anger, embodying a unique form of Minera’s Breath that has rarely been seen by any before. Whilst the University of Ardris and Canos have both offered her places in scholarship programs, she has turned them down. The Crucible is now all she knows, and all she cares about.
