Pariah Conflux - Simon's Kill Team

Why did you choose this Kill Team?

I’ve wanted to add some Necron Flayed Ones to my collection for some time now. The idea of such calculated killers being driven by an unquenchable need to consume blood is as unsettling as it is fascinating. Feared and reviled in equal measure by the pitiless Necron rulers, they are the ultimate realisation of their hubris. This made it thematically tricky to find a unit to partner them with, but I was struck with the idea of them being loyally defended by Canoptek Wraiths - programmed to defend them but unaware of their pariah status.

What rules options did you use?

I equipped the Canoptek Wraiths with flensing whip coils, to better rend foes limb from limb and giving them a much needed Initiative boost in close combat. Since Beasts can’t benefit from Specialisms in Kill Team, I was able to give the Flayed Ones some rather tasty special rules, making them even more lethal.

How do you plan on using it on the tabletop?

A Kill Team dedicated to evisceration, their tactical advantage will be closing ranks in short order and causing close-up mayhem. Canoptek Wraiths are fast, deadly and hard to kill. They'll dart across the battlefield, their ethereal forms and impenetrable armour easily deflecting the final futile salvos of their prey.

As the enemy faces down the relentless horror of the Canoptek Wraiths, the shadows will creep with the unquenchable blood thirst of the Flayed Ones. Their inherent stealth will bring them instantly into killing distance of their foes, where the grisly trophies they adorn themselves with will add unrelenting horror to the feast.

What models did you use?

My Kill Team is composed of three Canoptek Wraiths and five Flayed Ones.

Is there anything else you’d like to tell us about your Kill Team?

I’m really pleased with the composition of this Kill Team and the chance it affords me to explore new tactics. I’ve had nothing but success with Canoptek Wraiths on the gaming table and they exude calculated malice. l love their skittering, serpentine appearance.

The Flayed Ones were a joy to paint, with the cold metal of the Necrons draped in warm flesh and ribboned with dripping viscera. A unit that requires stealth and guile, they’ll demand a very considered style of play.

Looking over the other Kill Teams, I can see I’m going to need to be cunning and calculated in order to close range on my opponents, however, I’m confident once close combat is joined, that the carnage will be immeasurable....
