Sometimes the fire won’t burn whatever you do. Sometimes that’s because the fireplace is dirty or the chimney is stuck with something and sometimes it’s because the eldritch winternight terror is crawling down from the roof to take it’s toll in blood and death of unwilling sacrifices to the old gods that hide in the house from winter spirits, desperately telling themselves that everything is fine.
