Mobility and surprise are of value when you are conducting a raid. Longships, oarsmen, archers, spearmen, axemen are all well and good, but they are useless if your victims have had time to relocate with their valuables.
The three guys here have found and commandeered local horses to acquire some mobility. Or maybe they had already come with horses of their own in an oceangoing trading ship of sufficient size (see my Ocean Knarr model...). No chain mail here (just helmets), since they are travelling light to leave space for loot.
These viking raiders are in 1:72 scale and are intended to complement my other kits of Viking ships and footmen. The picture is actually in 1:100 scale since I wanted to check if they still retained all details at a reduced size and they did. Spears and axes are separate and need to be glued on. Note that owing to their poses, each rider fits one specific horse and vice versa.
The wood base, the 3D printed tree and the footmen in the diorama pictures are not included in this riders set.
