An Atropal in Dungeons & Dragons is a grotesque, undead abomination, a stillborn godling or failed immortal creation that embodies cosmic decay, appearing as a bloated, giant, rotting fetus with a umbilical cord linked to the Negative Plane, radiating life-draining negative energy, immune to many effects, and possessing immense magical power and intellect, seeking only destruction and the accumulation of souls to evolve into a death god.
