Puff | Unbreadable | 35mm

Unbread pastries make terrible pets. After all, their life span measures in days, and that's even before you account for the numerous environmental hazards plaguing their existence - coffee spills, giant flying eels (well, just one, really), mean people throwing all kinds of things at them, just to name a few. As such, most pastries live in hordes to have a chance to go stale. But every now and then an occasional bun never quite fits into the crowd and chooses to bravely survive on its own instead. Such individuals develop an ability to consume their doughy brethren and mutate into something else entirely, extending their life span in the process by shedding off stale pieces.

One such bun was adopted by Bulka and named Puff. But unbreads are fickle and adventurous creatures who, much like Bulka herself, never stay in one place for longer than a few hours. Truth be told, given how many mutations they undergo in the endless cycle of cannibalistic consumptions, even Bulka can't tell if the Puff she met back then is still the same creature she occasionally crosses paths with or whether it perished long ago and is no longer anything more than a chocolate chip in a series of slightly luckier successors. But to Bulka, such ruminations are completely inconsequential. Puff is Puff, and it matters not whether they've ever met before.
