Snooze | Unbreadable | 160mm

Character description: How many of us dreamed of getting paid for sleeping on a job? The girl we now call Snooze wasn’t much different. All she ever wanted was to catch some z’s while on the clock rather than waste her precious personal time that’s much better spent by watching others having fun, as if some of that fun would rub off on her and make her own life more fulfilling. But as the saying goes, be careful what you wish for, lest it come true.

When the town went through the night of the living bread, Snooze turned into a crumb, which meant obtaining a new name and a peculiar power – to watch real time events through someone else’s eyes in her sleep. At first, her new ability was a bit unruly and always tended to show her something it considered interesting without any context of whose eyes she’s looking through at any given point. But soon enough Snooze learned to focus on specific unsuspecting targets when falling asleep, as if she’d found a remote to switch available channels. Not many crumbs have abilities that are truly useful, but hers was both critical and dangerous to anyone who sought control over the town. As such, in exchange for protection, she secured a dream job (no pun intended) that merely required her to sleep and then report anything interesting she’d seen. Alas, her first employers failed to protect her quite miserably when they were completely obliterated in the infamous donut incident. Afterwards, it took her less than two hours to find herself pledging allegiance to the cult of lady B.M., where she was immediately granted the rank of high priestess, a personal room, and all the benefits she could ever ask for.

The devil was, of course, in the details. Since her usefulness was measured by her time spent dreaming, Snooze couldn’t go through all stages of sleep properly, instead focusing on the dreaming portion. As such, the more she slept, the more drowsy and sleep-deprived she became, as her body simply couldn’t get enough deep sleep essential for recovery. Moreover, as she hardly had any opportunity or reason to move her own body when she could spend time living through other people’s eyes, her muscles and immune system began to weaken to the point of Snooze being unable to live her own life outside of a comfy bed. Alas, beyond the confines of the cult mansion, there aren’t many people who know about Snooze or care enough about the girl who has traded her own life to live through someone else’s eyes.
