The Richelieu class battleship were Improved larger versions of the preceding Dunkerque class. 4 ships of the class were laid down but only two were completed. Unusually the ships carried all their main armament forward of the superstructure, similar to the Royal Navies Rodney class battleship. Most of Richelieu’s WW2 service life took place in the Pacific after joining the Free French Navy in 1942.
The final two ships of the class were to be built to modified designs.
This model is designed in the 1/1800 scale but can be printed in 1/2400 scale without appreciable loss of detail. The model comes as several STL files, one for the ships’ Hull and multiple sprues for the Bridge, turrets, cranes etc.
There are two sprues for the turrets, one has the turret barrels horizontal whilst the other has the barrels elevated to show the ship in combat.
We have tested a few of our designs at two additional scales: 1/3000 and 1/1200 which have all turned out really well. At 1/3000 scale though some components are very small and require additional patience when assembling.
