About the Church
Unusual in its location, beauty and, at the same time, simplicity, the church building, executed in the Ukrainian neo-baroque style, is also a monument to their dead rivermen and sailors.
Commemorative plaques were installed on the outer walls of the temple by the Kyiv public organization "Association of Veterans of Intelligence of the Navy" on October 29, 2005, with the names of the people of Kyiv who died on the battleship Novorossiysk, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the tragedy. On September 19, 2006, a solemn opening of a memorial plaque dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the heroic death of sailors and ships of the Pinsk Flotilla took place.
July 7, 2004 On the day of the celebration of the Nativity of the Prophet and Forerunner John the Baptist, His Beatitude Vladimir, Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine, consecrated the temple in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.
At the end of the Liturgy, His Beatitude Bishop Vladimir presented the new church with an ancient icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker with a particle of St. the relics of this great saint.
