Loyal to a fault and with powerful jaws able to crush cast iron like cardboard, Toto’s cunning manufacture also allows him to create smoke grenades to befuddle those who seek to harm Dorothy.
Toto’s haughty confidence in his own ability to protect the young woman is legendary, and entirely justified. None shall bring harm to Dorothy while Toto has a say in the matter - to get to Dorothy one must first deal with the steely resolve and implacable pride of this unusual Gentlefolk construct.
