Practitioner of the Dark Dwarven art of Rune Sorcery, Dorgrid was often whipped, gagged and bound during his life in captivity under the Irinaxi Drow. When the Glanbelite Drow were able to free Dorgrid and his brethren from their bonds of captivity, he was sure to inflict the years of torture he had endured onto his captors in but a single, agonising moment.
Though Dark Dwarven Rune Sorcery shares similarities with Colossal Rune Sorcery, the two bare different heritages that distinctly separates them. For Colossal Rune Sorcery was created in the height of the Oldavori Empire, when their people were an unstoppable force upon the surface of Tharador. While Dark Dwarven Rune Sorcery was formulated among slaves and small clutches of Dark Dwarves on the run from their Drow masters, wielding Minera’s Breath in concentrated ways out of desperation.
Not all could wield Minera’s Breath with destructive potential and power, yet Rune Sorcerer’s made it so, inscribing spells on slate disks as runes, allowing their comrades to cast spells at their own discretion against their captors. Dorgrid had learnt this mastery from many of his kin over the decades, and used it with extreme efficiency to turn the tide of his kin’s liberation, freeing himself and the hundreds of others he was imprisoned with as they unleashed a flurry of spells on their captors, decimating their numbers in minutes.
Due to this, Korthart chose Dorgrid as his right hand for their journey to salvation, and Dorgrid was glad to oblige. As they came into the confines of Delvdor, Dorgrid was ready to bring down the gates of the city for baring them out, and Korthart was not far behind from commanding him to do so either. Yet it was the temperament of their guides Indua’ne and Tharia who commanded them to remain calm while they tried to assess the situation. It has taken every ounce of will within Dorgrid to do so, but alas he has patiently waited for many many years for his liberation, and he was not going to let some round-eared pink-skin surface-walking Dwarves stand in the way of his freedom.
