The enormous fortress built atop the isle’s tallest peak, this citadel is home to Azmordion and the Silverscales. Though its history is etched in blood and betrayal, for it was once a sign of prosperity and fellowship between them and the Darkscales, but those days have long passed.
Crown of the island and the throne from which Azmordion rules. Dragonmaw was built over two decades, intended as a place by the Silverscales for their hatching lord, Azmordion to grow in relative safety. For centuries, Sovram and much of his closest council also lived within Dragonmaw Keep, in the days where he acted as a mentor to the young Silver Dragon. Yet as time marched on and Azmordion grew along with the ambition of the Silverscales, it became inevitable for them to betray Sovram and his kin.
The betrayal was bloody, leaving the Darkscales broken and routed. Decades later they still haven’t recovered, yet hope to one day reclaim their place in Dragonmaw. But it will not be easy for them: the sole way to ascend the mountain by foot is a narrow path that is guarded by the fortress of Eversus Pass. Even the largest army would find no way to feasibly cross it without heavy losses. It is solely what has protected the Silverscales from any measureable counterattack or attempt of reclamation over the years, with Sovram’s wings tattered, leaving him bound to the earth and banished from the skies.
Yet despite its isolated nature, Dragonmaw Keep is the most populace settlement upon the isle, with a healthy population of Silverscales, it is considered their capital. Much of their food is imported from the villages and towns below, making their way up Eversus Pass. Thus the sole means to try strike out at the Silverscales comes in the form of intercepting these caravans. Though they have tiered farms upon the mountain, they are not plentiful enough to sustain their population, and several days of interrupted food deliveries would see the Keep fall into famine.
