When a group of escaped slaves fled from Baldur to Belfrie for their freedom, Gunthrak was the sole survivor after their vessel was engulfed in a storm. Waking on the shores of Duskweave Isle, the vampire colony there found him and gave him the option of joining them, or being left to perish at the hands of the other denizens of the isle. Gunthrak chose the former, and became the in-house butcher for Noctra de Blanc, specializing in cuts of Werewolf meat. Now, thousands of miles from Duskweave in the dungeons beneath Beaufax, he has begun to learn the best cuts of human flesh instead, as the group forsakes their previous tenets forbidding them from consuming the blood of men.

Gunthrak was one of two dozen orcs sailing to freedom from Baldur to Belfrie when their fishing vessel was taken by a storm. Upon a wall of rocks the boat shattered, casting its occupants into the raging sea, where they either sank like stones or had their bodies broken as the torrents bashed them into the jagged razor rocks. By mere luck, Gunthrak was able to throw himself onto an empty barrel, holding onto it for what felt like days, until the wrath of the skies and sea subsided, and a gentle current carried him to a pale shore as fatigue brought him to slumber.

Waves crashing against his back roused him from his deathly sleep. It was not Belfrie he had arrived in, he knew that much. The shore bent inwards each way he looked, he was trapped on an island, not unlike the home he was torn from. He wandered thereafter, the dark clouds above obscuring the sun, and any notion he might have of the passage of time. Following the shore, a slight glimpse of civilization came to view: a rickety pier stretching out to the sea, a fisherman’s hut at its base. Hoping there he might find aid or answers, Gunthrak stormed off to it, yet within he found no answers, nor warmth, only a strange emptiness and enveloping coldness

It was then, as he turned through the door to leave, that he was halted by the pale visage of an Elven woman, long white-gold hair draped at her sides. She told him his scent had drawn her from miles away, and more nefarious creatures than her would set upon him shortly, lest he pledge himself as a servant to her. Unwitting to what his service might entail, Gunthrak agreed, and no sooner did the mysterious woman sink her fangs into his neck, before imbibing him with her own blood. Thereafter, Gunthrak became a thrall to Noctra de Blanc, who in turn served the lord of Duskweave Isle, Arthur Belfrie. Gunthrak had spent his years as the cook for his people in the labour camps of Baldur, and that talent was put to use in Noctra’s services, becoming the butcher who would drain the blood of their cattle.

When the vampire colony left Duskweave and Noctra took her own path separate to Arthur, Gunthrak followed in his master’s footsteps to Greypeak. There they forsook the tenets that drove them to feed upon the mangy cattle of Duskweave, and instead took up the consumption of the innocent once again. Thus, Gunthrak took to carving and bleeding the caracasses of the townsfolk unfortunate enough to find themselves as meals and drinks at the masquerades held by Noctra.
